A federal appeals court halted construction of the White House ballroom on Friday, siding with historic preservationists who sued to stop the project because it was being built without congressional approval. President Trump said he will appeal the ruling to the Supreme Court.
The U.S. Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 for the preservationists. The ballroom, which would measure 8,400 square metres, had been under construction.
In a separate action, Trump renewed his effort to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook. Cook has been given 21 days to respond to allegations that she made false statements on mortgage applications. She has denied the charges, which have not been proven.
