A total solar eclipse took place on Aug. 12, drawing the attention of skywatchers. In Africa, the event appeared as a partial eclipse. In Tabarka, Tunisia, the phenomenon was most pronounced in the country, with 59.06 percent of the Sun obscured. The partial eclipse was also visible from Dakar and several regions of Senegal, where a maximum of about 37 percent of the Sun's disk was obscured toward the end of the day. Correspondents in Tunisia and Senegal wore special eclipse glasses to safely watch the event.
