Former Trinamool Congress MLA Nirmal Ghosh has been arrested over the hurried cremation of a doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College. Police say Ghosh and two others face charges for allegedly preventing evidence collection through the hasty cremation. The arrest came after West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari directed police to register a separate case into the circumstances surrounding the cremation. Adhikari issued the direction two days earlier while attending a programme marking the second death anniversary of the doctor. The new case is separate from the ongoing CBI investigation into the doctor's rape and murder.
