The Pentagon has told Congress that US air strikes in Yemen killed 153 civilians and wounded 243 others. The figures came in a 12-page report sent to the Senate Armed Services Committee on Monday.
The strikes were ordered by President Donald Trump in March 2025 in response to Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea. The Houthis said their attacks were in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
The report said several specific strikes "more likely than not" caused civilian deaths and injuries. It highlighted a 6 April attack on the capital Sanaa that killed five civilians and wounded 25 others. It also noted a 17 April attack on the port city of Hodeidah that killed at least 80 civilians.
In a June report, Human Rights Watch said the Hodeidah attack should be investigated as a war crime.
