Israeli drone strikes killed at least two people in Gaza on Thursday, including the territory's police director, Colonel Jamal Abu Kamil, the Israeli army confirmed. The military described Abu Kamil as a Hamas commander who infiltrated Israeli territory during the 7 October 2023 attack, but it did not provide evidence to support the claim.
Hamas condemned the killing, calling it "a continuation of the brutal crimes committed by the occupation against our Palestinian people" and part of Israel's "pathetic and failed attempts to spread chaos and lawlessness in the Gaza Strip."
According to Gaza's health ministry, Israel has killed more than 1,250 Palestinians in near-daily strikes since a ceasefire took effect on 10 October 2025.
