U.S. investigators said Thursday that a broken engine fan blade shattered a window on a Ryanair flight from Greece to Germany, causing a passenger to be partially sucked out of the plane before fellow travelers pulled him back in. The National Transportation Safety Board's preliminary report into the July 10 incident found that bird remains were also in the engine of the Boeing 737 NG. The plane lost cabin pressure shortly after takeoff and was forced to make an emergency landing. According to the report, a piece of the engine broke off and smashed the window, and the man's head was sucked into the hole before other passengers dragged him to safety.
