An 18-year-old was swept away while crossing a drain in southeast Delhi on Friday evening amid heavy rain, prompting a search operation. The incident occurred near the Priyanka Camp Nala in Madanpur Khadar, within the Sarita Vihar police station limits, with authorities searching for the missing person.
The heavy rainfall that lashed Delhi and the National Capital Region on Friday morning caused widespread waterlogging, affecting areas including Safdarjung Hospital and the airport. Traffic movement was significantly disrupted across the city and its surroundings. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded substantial rainfall amounts in various locations.
In its forecast issued on Friday night, the IMD said several areas are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds expected in parts of the country. Delhi, Odisha and Rajasthan are among the states likely to be affected. Light rainfall is expected to continue over Delhi for the next two days.
