Spotify is introducing a new badge that will identify artists on its platform who are not human. The label, called 'AI Persona,' will appear on the profiles of artists who have been flagged as AI-generated or who have identified themselves as such.
The feature is set to roll out in mid-September, the company said Tuesday. It is part of Spotify's effort to address the growing presence of AI-created music and to maintain trust between artists and listeners.
In announcing the move, Spotify emphasized that a genuine artist-fan connection depends on trust and authenticity, and that listeners need to be able to trust who is behind the music they hear.
The label will apply to accounts that appear to be AI-generated, allowing the platform to draw a clearer line between human and non-human artists.
