Most of Tamil Nadu's 57 Members of Parliament stayed away from a meeting called by Chief Minister Vijay to discuss delimitation, but the MPs who did attend pledged a united front against the exercise. The all-party meeting, held at Kalaivanar Arangam, was called to work out a state response to delimitation, which has raised concerns that southern states could lose seats in parliament. Major opposition parties, including the DMK and the AIADMK, boycotted the meeting. The Times of India reported that 21 of the state's 57 MPs attended, mainly from the Congress, VCK, CPI, CPI(M), MDMK and IUML. Hindustan Times, however, said 37 of the 57 MPs were absent. According to the Times of India, the attending leaders rejected the Delimitation Bill. After the meeting, leaders vowed to present a united front against delimitation.
